Recently, as I was going through papers to find what I needed to renew my Irish passport, I came across this photo of my father as a boy. The back of the card reads: "Richard Leonard, age 12. And his cat Lindy, 6 years old. Grade 8a." I never knew my father had a cat. (Nor did I know that my father had been a real fashion plate. Check out those socks. And those pants!) I wonder, did he develop an allergy toward cats as an adult as I did?
