Anyone who has traveled in Italy, especially those travelers who have stayed in what I'll generously call "economy" lodgings, is familiar with waffle-weave towels, much like the one shown here. Perhaps hoteliers stock them because they suspect no one would want to steal them. Their ploy did not work this time.
